When a Reader Can't Read

In October this past year I was in a pretty bad car accident. I was stopped, I was hit from behind and pushed into oncoming traffic and hit again. It was awful. Among other injuries, I suffered a concussion which months later I'm still recovering from. I had no idea the impact a concussion could have on my daily life. Headaches, blurry vision, ear and eye pain, sound sensitivity, dizziness, fatigue and nausea to name some of the symptoms.
I'm also so limited in the amount of reading I can do. It takes me two/ three days to write a blog post, and I can't get through more than a page or two of text without feeling woozy or dizzy, or needing to re-read the pages because my brain just isn't taking in the information.
I love to read. It's one of my most favourite things to do, my favourite hobby, it grounds and centres me. It recharges me, and not being able to read even one book these last 6 months has been extremely difficult. People ask me "what are you reading? " and my answer is nothing.
In addition to not reading, I'm out of the loop. I've lost touch as a book blogger to what's new, what's popular, what are people saying are must reads?

Help me create a must read list for the future

So friends, I'm asking for your help. I want to compile a list of must reads for when I'm better and a list of audio books I can start on now.

What should I add to this list?

With thanks always,

  1. Jandy Nelson' I'll Give You the Sun, Tessa Graton's United States of Asgard series (The Apple Throne, book 3 is now out!), the Sarah J Maas books, Ishiguro's The Buried Giant, the new Lori Lansen book... the new Jodi Picoult might be a great audio book too! Hope you are starting to feel better :-(

  2. How awful :(. I'm sure that's very frustrating! Some favorite audiobooks I've enjoyed are the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyers, the Flavia de Luce books by Alan Bradley, and I really enjoyed Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge too. I'm listening to As You Wish by Cary Elwes and it has multiple narrators (including the author and other cast/crew from the movie). It's fun! I'd recommend other books, but I'm pretty out of the loop now too :)
